StaciAt Floor Coverings International of Kennesaw, we love bringing you creative insight and perspectives from designers who are kind enough to share their wisdom and how they got started. Today we have an interview with Staci, home design enthusiast and longtime blogger from My Friend Staci.

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.
I am in my late 20s and have been blogging for six years. My family consists of myself, my husband, and our Italian Greyhound. I love to travel and spend time outside. I live in Southern California, and although I’ve traveled all over, I cannot imagine living anywhere else! As such, I am in the process of trying to make my condo 100% “California” and as a result 100% “me.”

2. Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?
I had been keeping a LiveJournal since I was in high school, but I started formally blogging when I studied abroad in Morocco. I got a thrill out of describing my time abroad to people who may never get to travel there, and I’m sure my parents appreciated the regular updates on my life. Once I got really into home design blogs, I transitioned mine into a home design “slash” lifestyle blog. My favorite thing about blogging is that I enjoy writing and taking photos, and this gives me an opportunity to polish my skills and share my thoughts with the world.

3. How would you describe your design style?
My design style is constantly being pulled in different ways. I am hopelessly in love with the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, but want to balance it with influence from other time periods. Lately I am hugely influenced by Justina Blakeney and I’m trying to give my place a collected, bohemian, but still clean and modern feel. It is a hard line to balance!

4. Where do you find most of your inspiration?
I find most of my inspiration in newly opened restaurants around town and from Instagram. I also have a small collection of vintage decor books which are both funny and inspiring. Since my condo was built in the 60’s, I like the idea of incorporating some of the design trends of the time back into the space.

5. Tell us about a recent project you’re proud of.
Recently, I have been putting a lot of effort into making my guest room/office organized and inviting so it can pull double-duty seamlessly. My husband and I installed a shelving unit to create lots of storage for books and items for my Etsy shop. Just a week ago, we got a vintage sewing table from my parents and it has stepped in as computer desk and style piece. I can’t wait to put some finishing touches on it and call it “done!”
