Kristy Seibert DesignsAt Floor Coverings International Kennesaw, we love bringing you creative insight and perspectives from bloggers who are kind enough to share their stories and wisdom. Today we have an interview with Kristy, an award winning designer and the blogger behind Starfish Cottage.

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.
I am an award-winning, Florida- based interior designer, with over 19 years of professional experience.  In addition to working with clients, I also publish a popular coastal lifestyle blog, Starfish Cottage, where I write about decorating, cooking, DIY projects, and life in a coastal cottage.  My passion is helping clients create beautiful and personal homes.  I live on the West Coast of Florida with my husband, three children and large yellow lab.

2. Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?

My blog began as a hobby- just a way to document and share what I was doing in my own home, mostly coastal décor ideas, diy projects and recipes.  It has grown into a passion for me, as well as introduced me to like-minded readers and bloggers.  On of the things I enjoy the most about blogging is styling and photographing rooms for my posts– I have learned so much over the years about photography and styling, mostly by trial and error!

3. How would you describe your design style?

My personal design style is coastal- light, bright, open and airy.  I love slipcovers, seagrass and seashells, as well as antique or vintage finds.

4. Where do you find most of your inspiration?

Most of my inspiration comes from nature, and more specifically, the beaches and coastal regions of Florida.  I love the color of clear blue water, sandy beaches and white clouds.  I also love to incorporate lots of natural textures and elements into my décor.

5. Tell us about a recent project you’re proud of.

I recently added a distressed plank wood top to a $50 Craigslist coffee table, andreally loved how it turned out!!  Here is the link to that project:
